I think it's great. That makes me... I like now that there have been a few fun facts that have come up recently

[00:01:45] I cannot wait to tell people this. in case the NFL didn't know. And Sunday being yesterday to those of you who listened to this on the date comes out. But yes, today is Friday for us. Yes, yes. And then after that, we have more Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is actually just a never-ending celebration. I did actually run out to it because I'm a spoiler alert.

[00:03:01] Whenever you listen to this, I'm going to be in Cincinnati.

[00:03:04] I will actually be in Cincinnati for the whole week,

[00:03:06] or almost the whole week. after I messaged her, three days later, she put a notice saying she's completely sold out for the season, like she has so many orders that she can't take anymore. She gets so booked. It's beautiful. It's a beautiful king cake regardless of what it tastes like. Yeah, and I'm sure it's delicious. A couple of my friends, or Shannon had it recently and she was like, this is by far my favorite king cake

[00:04:20] that I've had in town.

[00:04:21] That's amazing.

[00:04:22] A couple other people have been posting her king cakes

[00:04:24] on social media and they're like,

[00:04:25] I definitely got a creedo king cake again this year,

[00:04:27] delicious. to me that, oh, they're starting to sell whatever. Specific filling? No, this particular company, Bakery. And they're getting them in different places in Baton Rouge and it happened to walk into the foyer and they had like a mini one. And I was like, oh, I'll get it. And it was filled with cookie butter. Like, okay, I can maybe get on board with that. It was like a sin.

[00:05:40] It said cookie butter, what is the,

[00:05:46] like a snickerdoodle cookie? I know, seriously. And we're sorry that you don't live here. Get a friend who can ship you one, or get one shipped to yourself. Yeah, I mean, you can go online and get kicked. You gotta do it ahead of time. Yeah, you can't do it now. I'm really sorry that that time is over for this year, but next year, get excited.

[00:08:20] and was going to read it at some point.

[00:08:22] Well, let me tell you why you should read it immediately.

[00:08:26] So first of all, the book that you reviewed settle down in this small town and open up a coffee shop. Now the thing is, most people have not heard of coffee before. This is a completely new novel item for them. How does she know about it? Because of her travels. She had coffee somewhere when she was off.

[00:09:41] And it is like our coffee, it's right.

[00:09:43] It's not coffee.

[00:09:44] Yeah, it's our coffee, but it's completely novel

[00:09:46] to these people. is like just basically, it's her and her coffee shop, but it's, the author makes everything seem novel. And so it's like, they're like, oh man, it's really warm in this coffee shop. What can we do? And then one of the employees figures out how to build this quote unquote air conditioning system.

[00:11:00] And they're like, oh my gosh, how did this,

[00:11:02] how this is amazing?

[00:11:03] And it's like ice,quel now that he wrote after, and it's called Book Shops and Bone Dust.

[00:12:20] And I started it, I haven't finished it.

[00:12:22] It's like, she has something wrong with her leg,

[00:12:25] and she ends up in me about it? Okay, so it ended up not being... It's the only thing I could get through in the last week. Yeah. So I mean you kind of have a lot going on. It came out in September of 2023 or like the very end of August. So Cassie Greenberg is a

[00:13:44] struggling artist and she can't pay her bills. So she was like, ah, it's kind of weird. Can we pause for a second? Is Craigslist like still a thing? I don't know. Like I'm, I don't know if I'm sure it still exists,

[00:15:02] but like do people still use that?

[00:15:05] I think some people do.

[00:15:06] I maybe a certain kind of sweetie. course. So she's like, because he's been alive since then. And she's like, this is weird. This is a weirdly decorated apartment. But okay, whatever. Like, it's nicely decorated. And she's like, I guess I can throw away all my ikea furniture. Now that I've got this four poster canopy bed, she does. So she's, so Sam goes with her, but stays in the car. She goes up to meet him.

[00:17:21] She decides to take it. She starts living there.

[00:17:22] It's a little awkward, but she, again, she never sees him.

[00:17:24] He's there. He tells her,

[00:17:25] I'm gonna be sleeping during the day.

[00:17:27] My work, I'm up really late at night.

[00:17:30] I go feed on people at night.

[00:17:32] So in her, in her mind, she's like,

[00:17:33] maybe he's a doctor and he's on call at night.

[00:17:37] And so he sleeps all day.

[00:17:38] She's like, cause he can afford this.

[00:17:39] Yes, it's rational.

[00:17:41] Apartment and all these fancy things and, you know,

[00:17:44] I don't know.

[00:17:45] So she doesn't really ask too much, roommate. Right. Right. He's rich. He's yeah. True. True. God, why didn't I think of that before? So the whole like first half of the book, you're just confused and then it makes sense. Yeah. Obviously there's like a love connection there. They started leaving each other notes around the apartment because he says that he hates texting. Well yeah, I'm sure here. Like, oh my god. Obviously, I'm about to get murdered. I mean, he could have played it off as, I'm a doctor. It was the friend, it was the friend that, like, not him. Like, he was just like, Oh, the friend drank the blood. Okay. In front of her. And so she was like, I'm just like, she wasn't shocked. And the guy is like, telling the friend,

[00:20:20] like, what are you doing?

[00:20:21] You know, like, stop, you're scaring her and, you know,

[00:20:24] and she's pretty.

[00:20:25] Can you imagine, like, that you would just accept it as fact. You're like, oh, that makes sense. The only sleep sent night. Instead of being like, he's on drugs. He's breaking in, he's stealing stuff from the blood bank to drink blood that other people could be using. No, no, you're just a vampire. It makes perfect sense.

[00:21:41] I'm actually just a vampire.

[00:21:43] But I totally understand.

[00:21:45] I'm so sorry, I questioned you.

[00:21:46] Gosh.

[00:21:47] Thinking you were on drugs. I was thinking about compound interest earlier. Because at that point, you just invest in a lot of things and you hope something sticks because you have a lot of time that if it doesn't work out, you can just... I'm sorry, I'm sorry I distracted from your vampire story. No. It was okay. I felt like it kinda... It wasn't Marissa's September 2023 pick. No.

[00:23:00] It felt like it a little rushed.

[00:23:02] And then, I don't know, I still felt like it was developed

[00:23:04] enough, there wasn't enough going on

[00:23:07] that I was has seen this. So Michael and I loved it. I told my brother about it. I was like, here's my Hulu password, and you go watch it so that you and I can discuss it.

[00:24:22] I told him I was like, be prepared for the Christmas episode.

[00:24:27] Oh my god. No, it was all one single take one shot. That's freaking mind blowing. It's a mind blowing. I believe you. It's mind blowing. Do you know the amount of plane I can't wrap my head around it? Well, what's also really amusing is I can't remember the guy's name, but you know, you know,

[00:25:40] the bigger guy who fixes everything.

[00:25:42] Yeah, the uncle, Uncle.

[00:25:44] He is the only actual Italian.

[00:25:48] No, no's huge. It was a, I've told everyone when they're like, what's a good show, I'm like, you need to watch

[00:27:01] the bear.

[00:27:02] It is true.

[00:27:02] Another really good show, I'm not gonna discuss it,

[00:27:04] but just tell you and it's nice. Yeah, it's a nice tea for sure. I like it. And I am now very excited to try all of these other options that we have from Plum Deluxe.
